Scouts are 10.5-14 years old.
Each Scout Troop consists of small units of six to eight Scouts called a Patrol, usually led by a Patrol Leader. Outdoor activities feature prominently, with the highlight being camping. Throughout the year, Scouts learn various skills, such as map reading, camp cooking and first aid in preparation for camp.
Rock climbing, potholing, photography and international experiences are just some of the things they get up to.
In Watford North, we have a number of competitions and events that we do, including – but not limited to – Green Beret, Cooking competition, Triathlon and Night Owls!
During their time at Scouts they have an opportunity to complete and achieve a selection of badges.
During their unit sessions Scouts will work towards their Challenge Awards as well as a variety of Activity and Staged Badges. There are a selection of badges that Scouts can complete outside of their unit sessions. Talk to your Scout Leaders about this.
The highest badge a Scout can achieve is the Chief Scout’s Gold Award. To be awarded this badge a Scout will need to complete all nine Challenge Awards as well as any six Activity Badges.
